Did you know that we increase the weight of our heads from 10 lbs to 60 lbs when we slouch!? It's no wonder the syndrome now known as "Text Neck" is becoming more and more common among younger people. The muscles aren't meant to hold up that much weight. 



Otherwise lumped into the category of Spinal Arthritis, Text Neck is characterized by premature degeneration of the spine. And the first step in combating it is being aware. Start thinking about your posture! Engage in activities that naturally support good posture. Look at your work set up if you do considerable desk work. Setting your monitor to the correct height for your eyes is a good place to start.

Put timers on your phone to remind you to put it down once in a while. Look up! Taking real and frequent breaks to get outside will benefit you in too many ways for me to list here. The real irony is that retirees now spend more time UnSitting than the working class. Maybe because they are less tech savvy, or maybe they just remember how to enjoy being outside.
